    What is a calculator?

A calculator is a compact electronic computing device that allows you to perform various operations on numbers (multiplication, division, addition and subtraction, raising to a power, extracting the root, etc.), working with algebraic formulas. Let's take a closer look at what a calculator is and for what tasks it is used.

    Types of calculators

    • Simplest calculators. It is convenient to use them at home to perform simple arithmetic calculations at work, at school. The devices are compact in size, have a classic set of basic buttons.
    • Engineering. Such models will be useful both to senior students of specialized classes and students of technical universities, as well as graduated engineers, builders, scientists and so on. The list of calculations performed by devices of this type is very extensive, which makes it possible to solve the most complex mathematical problems. Usually they are larger in size, with a lot of multi-tasking buttons.
    • Programmable engineering calculators - complex devices with a huge number of functions, additional features. They can be connected to various external devices, for example, to a PC.
    • Programmable graphing calculators. Another kind of engineering devices that can display drawings and graphs. In some cases, these gadgets are equipped with built-in printing device that allows you to display data on paper.
    • Accounting. Large, with large buttons - for more convenient and quick counting. Used by accountants, cashiers, sellers. Support work with large numbers (usually up to 12-15 characters).
    • Financial. They are a bit like accounting models, only, among other things, they are able to perform specific bank calculations (for example, calculating annuity, discounts, loan payments, etc.).

In addition, there are online calculators - applications of varying complexity that are placed on sites so that users can perform all the necessary calculations via the Internet. This is very convenient if you do not have at hand a conventional device or if you can not buy an expensive powerful device.
