• Proper care of tsiperus flower

It's good that someone once thought of growing plants at home, though initially they were some medicinal herbs that were dying for the winter, and the need for them existed all year round.

Over time, home flowers began to be appreciated not only for their beneficial properties, but also for their decorative foliage and flowering, which are pleasing to the eye and become an excellent piece of home interior. At first, local species appeared in our homes, but over time, unusual tropical representatives migrated to us from distant countries, one of which was graceful tsiperus.

Madagascar is called the birthplace of this flower. Most often, it can be found on the banks of a river, a lake, in general, any body of water, tsiperus loves moist soil. The plant comes from the sedge family, in natural conditions it can reach 3 meters in height, there are about 600 species in nature.

    Original flower

Interestingly, one of the most ancient species is Cyperus papyrus, which was actively used in ancient Egypt for the production of paper, besides this, weaving baskets, mats and even boats from it! This type of home is not grown because of its relatively large size, most often, papyrus can be found in greenhouses.

At home, most often, Cyperus umbellate or Cyperus alternator is found, which indeed slightly resembles small green umbrellas. Its height does not exceed 1.5 meters, among them you can meet and special dwarf forms.

Often, this ornamental plant is used to decorate artificial ponds, but in small pots tsiperus looks very attractive, especially when it grows in a heap. Caring for tsiperus is not difficult at all, because it is a completely unpretentious houseplant that, for normal growth and development, you only need to be watered in time and periodically pruned.

Perhaps the only negative is his homely, completely unpretentious flowers: small, superficially resembled inflorescences of dill. It is best to acquire tsiperus in the summer, when it is in its prime, in winter the plant often fades. If you provide him with all the necessary conditions for development, then tsiperus will please you not only with powerful and juicy leaves, but also with additional shoots from the center of the outlet, which can be used to propagate the plant.

    How to care?

As we have already said, the indoor cyperus is an absolutely unpretentious plant, it can easily transfer a lack of light, so it is not necessary to place it exclusively on the windowsills. Plus, it is not demanding of heat, however, it will develop with great success in warm rooms.

    Real jungle

The ideal temperature for its development and flowering is 20 ° -25 ° in summer, in winter it can withstand temperatures as low as 12 °. It can calmly grow in the sun, the only thing that tsiperus may not like is that it is a very heated battery in winter, as a result of which the plant may turn yellow and shed its leaves. It is better at this time to put it somewhere in a cool place, for example, on the balcony window sill.

Perhaps, the most important thing in the general scheme of care of the cyperus is its watering. As noted above, this is a moisture-loving plant, which means that your main task is to ensure its constantly wet roots. In order to achieve conditions that will be as close to natural as possible, it is necessary to ensure that there is always water in the pot tray.

And in order for the roots to have free access to it, the drainage when planting tsiperus is not laid out, the pot is filled from the bottom with soil. To make the plant feel as comfortable as possible, it can be regularly sprayed with water. Sprayed or filtered water is suitable for irrigation and spraying, preferably of the same temperature as the air.

Periodically, you will find yellowed and dying old stalks that need to be cut regularly, in return for which young and new stalks will grow. Certain species, such as the ornamental variegated forms of tsiperus, can quickly lose their white color and transform into ordinary green plants.

    Bright greens

To prevent this, green growths must be cut. Young plants in suitable conditions grow quite quickly, so they need to be replanted annually and, if desired, transplanted into separate pots. The ideal time for this procedure is the end of winter or the beginning of spring. To do this, you can buy a special soil in the store, it must be nutritious and light.

During the period of active growth (in spring and summer), the cirrus should be fed every 2-3 weeks, in winter it is less often, usually only once a month. It should be taken into account that too tight a pot can cause yellowing of the foliage, and powerful roots, in time, are able to break the tight walls.

    Breeding

Like most other plants, tsiperus can multiply by seeds or shoots. The seed method is the most troublesome: for this, the seeds must be finely sown in small pots, which are filled with a special mixture of peat with sand and sheet earth. The dish can be covered with glass or tightened with a film, under which the temperature should not fall below 18 °.

It is necessary to constantly monitor that the soil does not cease to be wet, and when the first shoots appear, they should be pritenyat from direct sunlight. When seedlings reach a height of 5-7 cm, they can be transplanted into separate pots.

Another simpler method is reproduction by young apical processes or division of the bush.Among the apical leaves, it is necessary to choose processes with dormant buds, they are carefully cut off along with a small stalk (5-8 cm), then the process is turned over and, so to speak, the “head” is planted in the soil. In the center of the touch, the head will give roots, and, over time, it will shoot out.
