Jenna Jameson Says She's Seeing Huge Weight-Loss Results With Keto And Intermittent Fasting
- Jenna James posted on Instagram Wednesday that she can "now vouch for #intermittent fasting."
- In addition to intermittent fasting, Jenna is also following a "clean keto" diet that had already helped her lose 57 pounds.
- It's not uncommon for keto dieters to also take up intermittent fasting, as both diets put the body in ketosis, a state when it burns fat for energy rather than carbs.
Jenna Jameson has clearly been rocking this whole keto diet thing—and in late July she revealed she had started intermittent fasting on the keto diet too.
Now, two weeks later, the former adult film star and mom of three is not holding back her praise of intermittent fasting.
"Holy sh*t...excuse my French. But wow. I can now vouch for #intermittentfasting," Jenna, 44, wrote in a recent Instagram post. "I haven't weighed this little for over 4 years."
That weight loss, of course, is still partly because of her keto diet too, which she still follows while intermittent fasting. "I've been sticking to eating clean keto," she wrote. "No keto breads or fat bombs...I think that's my secret...no shortcuts."
As Jenna wrote in her first post on intermittent fasting, it's not uncommon for people on the keto dietombine the two diets.
"I absolutely was not sure about this," she wrote. "Some keto peeps swear by it, others say it’s incredibly hard."
Jenna said she started intermittent fasting in order to break through her weight-loss plateau, adding that she typically fasts for a 16- to 18-hour period—6 p.m. to 11 a.m.—and that it's "absolutely doable" for her.
This particular brand of intermittent fasting plan sounds a lot like the 16:8 diet, which involves fasting for 16 hours a day, then eating whatever you want for the remaining eight hours.
A study published in the journalNutrition and Healthy Agingshowed that people did have success with modest weight loss using the plan and also lowered their blood pressure.
Experts say that pairingintermittent fasting with the keto dietmight lead to more fat-burning (and weight loss) since both the keto diet and intermittent fasting help the body achieve ketosis, a.k.a. the state where your body burns fat for fuel instead of carbohydrates.
Beyond her weight loss, though, Jenna has also been vocal about how the keto diet has made her feel, saying that she is "happier, smarter, and much more confident" since starting the diet.
