How to determine what was ovulation?
Most women who dream of getting a baby as soon as possible are interested in which days of the cycle conception can take place with the highest probability. Therefore, sooner or later they meet with such a term as "ovulation." What does it mean, and how to determine what was ovulation, and catch this good moment in the next cycle?
Ovulation refers to the release of a mature egg from the ovary. Normally this happens around the middle of a cycle. In place of the egg remains the corpus luteum, which produces the necessary hormone - progesterone. It is necessary for the normal course of pregnancy.
Signs of ovulation
Early ovulation can be predicted by the type of discharge - they become abundant and look like egg white. This is due to the hormones estrogen, the number of which in the body increases. In this way, the body prepares for the future conception.
Some women "anticipate" the onset of ovulation, experiencing light aching pain in the lower abdomen in the middle of the cycle, as well as barely noticeable pressure in the anus. These sensations are caused by damage to the ovary at the time of ovulation, when a small amount of blood enters the pelvis. If the pain does not cause much discomfort, then treatment is not necessary.
Methods for determining ovulation
There are several "scientific" ways to determine ovulation, which still do not give a one hundred percent guarantee.
- Tests To find out when to use them, subtract 17 days from the length of your menstrual cycle. So, with a 28-day cycle, testing starts from the 11th day. It is necessary to pour urine into a dry container and lower the test strip into it for 20 seconds. After three minutes, you can check the result - a vertical bar appears on the bar. If it is less bright than the control line, the test is considered negative. You can repeat it in 4-5 days. If the line that appears is the same in brightness as the control line, or darker, then the test is considered positive, and this means that in 24-36 hours a long-awaited ovulation will occur. The best days to conceive a baby will be considered the next 4 days.
- Basal temperature measurement. This method is based on the fluctuation of body temperature, depending on the release of certain hormones. The temperature is measured in the anus and differs from that measured in the armpit. Measurements should be carried out from the first day of the cycle for about five minutes in the morning, without getting out of bed, and record the figures in the table. From the first day of the cycle, that is, with the onset of menstruation, the temperature slowly decreases from 37 to 36.5 degrees. Immediately before ovulation, the basal temperature may drop by another 0.1-0.2 degrees for a couple of days, and during ovulation it jumps sharply and stays around 37-37.4 degrees for at least 12-14 days. 2-3 days before the onset of menstruation, the temperature again drops to 37. The presence of a temperature rise (at least 0.4-0.5 degrees) indicates past ovulation. If it was not, the schedule will be without "jumps".
- Online ovulation calendars. Nowadays, many sites have programs that allow you to calculate the day of ovulation. You only need to enter your data: the duration of the cycle and the menstrual period, the first day of the last menstrual period and the expected day of the next.
Be patient and persistent, try different methods, and soon you will be able to podgadat the best days to conceive!
