    How to plant maggots?

Maggots are the larvae of the large blue (meat) fly. In length maggots reach 10mm. Their color is white with a cream shade. In nature, maggots can be found in various impurities or on rotting waste of meat or fish. Naturally, to collect, and even more so, to use such maggots should not be, as they can be carriers of various infections. And then, for aesthetic reasons, this method cannot be called the best. Maggots can always be bought on the market, but it is not difficult to grow them at home. In spring or summer you can avoid buying maggots in the markets or in fishing stores. There are several ways how to plant maggots at home.

    Milk breeding: ways

    • Take the egg and boil it softly. In the upper part of it, make a hole (the size of which is not more than a coffee spoon) and remove the whites to the yolk under the hole. Egg should be put in a plastic cup and hang it outside the window in the shade. After 5-7 days (depending on air temperature) the larvae will be ready. After that you can rinse the finished maggots in water using gauze or a sieve for this purpose. Then, pour them with sawdust. Your maggots are ready for fishing!
    • For this method, you need a fish whose weight is not more than 400 grams. The fish should not be cleaned and in no case should the gills be removed. All you need to do is to slightly incise the belly of the fish in such a way as to form a bag. Then add some fish. Post fish prepared this way in the shade of the balcony. After a couple of days, put a gauze bag on the fish, into which the maggots that did not hold back will fall. After a week from your fish there will be only scales and bones, and all of it will be full of maggots. Then they should be treated as in the first method: wash and pour in sawdust.

Maggots should be stored in a cool place, for example, in a refrigerator, as they can quickly pupate in a warm room. The bottom of the tank, in which you want to put maggots, cover with a layer of sawdust, in which maggots will be buried. In the cover, make small holes for ventilation. When the air temperature reaches 0 and -2 degrees, the maggots become numb, however, after you put them in heat, they will quickly come to life.
